Halloween Writing Activity and Craft: All Wrapped Up in Learning-Looking for an engaging writing unit based on Social Studies standards this fall or Halloween season? Why not the interesting subject of mummies?

In this mummy writing project, students will learn more about mummies, then work on one of the following writing prompts. You choose which prompt works best for your students. This pack includes activities for expository, narrative, and opinion writing. The finished product makes a super cute Halloween Bulletin board!

Here’s what this pack includes:

►Suggested Resources- use these suggested books and videos to prime your students before beginning the writing process. Perfect for engaging your students more about real and make believe mummies

►Lesson Plans- these easy to follow five day plans walks your students through the writing process from brainstorm to publishing! Use all or a few of the suggestions.

►Expository Writing Section- For this section, students are taken through the writing process steps for expository writing based on the prompt: All Wrapped Up in Learning. This includes brainstorming sheets, rough draft templates, and final writing papers. There is also an expository writing rubric for easy self assessment as well as teacher assessment.

►Opinion Writing Section- In this section, students are asked to form an opinion about mummies, then defend their opinion with evidence. Includes brainstorm, rough draft, and final draft pages.

►Narrative Writing Section- For this section, students are given an opportunity to explore what they think it would be like to be a mummy. Students are encouraged to add details to their story through their brainstorm and rough drafts. It also includes final draft writing pages.

★Please note that all writing components include both primary and regular writing lined sheets. ✍

►Mummy Craft- 2 options for a simple art project to finish off your student’s writing piece.

-Option one: Mummy face quick print- print out the mummy face and have students attach it to their writing. Perfect if you're short on time.

-Option two: Tissue paper mummy. Print out the circle, then have students wrap the circle using paper streamers. Then, attach to the writing.
