In this activity, students will be given a feeling/emotion and they will have to create a Halloween picture displaying that feeling/emotion. I have provided a few outlines, but you may also have the kids draw the picture too! Students will include a paragraph that describes their picture without saying what that feeling/emotion is! For example, if they have the word nervous, they may describe their character as someone who is shuffling their feet, biting their nails, their stomach is doing belly flops! I encourage my students to connect their descriptions to Halloween.
Example: A student had the word angry and she picked a ghost picture.
She wrote: I saw the other ghosts playing without me. Suddenly, my eyebrows furrowed and my face went red. I wanted to yell with my biggest, scariest, ghost shout but I knew if I did, everybody would think I was crazy. I stomped up the haunted house stairs with two big ghost fists clenched. I yelled, "It's NOT fair!" as I entered my bedroom. (How AWESOME is she?!)
