This Halloween Writing: Spooky Snapshots mini-unit is perfect for middle school and high school students! They will love writing about the 24 "spooky" setting images that come in this unit.

My favorite way to use this product is to have students practice writing SNAPSHOTS. A snapshot is when a writer zooms in on a particular setting at a particular moment in time. Then, using lots of sensory details and imagery, writes a detailed description that paints a picture of that scene in the reader’s mind.
I’ve included 24 spooky images for your students to use as the settings for their snapshots. The 24 images are “vintaged up” to make them look even more spooky. I’ve made them available in DIGITAL form, “task card” form (I just print on cardstock and laminate which gives me a whole deck of images that I can use again and again), as well as full-page form which work better for whole-class instruction.
