This is a set of 24 QR code task cards designed to allow students to show their understanding beyond the first grade common core standard:
Partition circles and rectangles into two and four equal shares, describe the shares using the words halves, fourths, and quarters, and use the phrases half of, fourth of, and quarter of. Describe the whole as two of, or four of the shares. Understand for these examples that decomposing into more equal shares creates smaller shares.
I use these task cards with my students who have shown mastery with circles, squares, and rectangles. It gives them an opportunity to work with more challenging shapes and extend their understanding.
Students will need to identify halves and fourths, and be able to partition shapes into halves and fourths.
The shapes included in this set are:
triangle, rhombus, trapezoid, oval, octagon, hexagon, pentagon, heart, star, heptagon
QR codes included so that students can check their work. The QR codes for the yes/no questions are in text format, and the QR codes for the drawing cards link to picture examples.
*2 versions of the task cards are included: one with QR codes, and one without
