Thank you for downloading the Hamilton “Farmer Refuted” Historical Investigation Lesson Plan. In this document you will find all you need for a one hour lesson exploring the history of the song from the musical.
As a former History teacher and current English teacher, Hamilton hits all of my favorites parts of both subjects. These lessons explore the interdisciplinary nature of the play, but are mostly from the perspective of an English teacher. In “Farmer Refuted,” the play references a real pamphlet written by Alexander Hamilton in opposition to Samuel Seabury. This lesson focuses on investigating the historical references in the song through use of timelines.
Lyrics: You can get lyrics to the musical in the book Hamilton: The Revolution (available on Amazon) or at www.Genius.com (approved by Lin-Manuel Miranda and with some of his own annotations). Lyrics for this song can be found at: https://genius.com/Lin-manuel-miranda-farmer-refuted-lyrics
