This Introduction 13 slide power point of Hamlet begins with 9 discussion questions for the class. These queries are centered around the themes of Hamlet but deal with everyday questions about morals and values. The presentation goes on to explain the names and relationships of the various characters in the play as well as the three story lines.
There is a map of the five countries involved in the play and pictures of Kronberg Castle. This helps students get an idea of how real and significant are the parameters of this play. Some of the more famous quotes are taken from the play and are used for a group activity.
The presentation ends with some insight into Hamlets stream of consciousness and motives, to avenge his father's death, with reference to the "To be or not to be" soliloquy. Beneath the slides are teachers notes to expand on the significance of each individual slide.
This presentation naturally leads to the reading of the play. Enjoy!
