***This is the BUNDLE for all five anticipatory guides for Hamlet**
If you do not need all five anticipatory guides, please choose the individual guide that best suits your needs from within my shop.
Prior to reading each act in Shakespeare's Hamlet, my students spend one class period working on decoding 8-10 of the most important pieces of the dialogue from the act. This anticipatory strategy creates a basic summary for the students as they prepare to read challenging verse. As we read, they can navigate the text much better because they have a basic understanding of the setting/plot/characters.
Here, the dialogue is separated in chronological order within the act and asks the students to paraphrase the text and discuss what is revealed in within the lines. Feel free to change some of the chosen dialogue to paraphrase, as you feel fit. I like having my students type up their responses because they will likely need to revise their paraphrases as they practice nagivating the language. Depending ont he dynamic of the classroom, you can even use this as a carousel activity with the quotes taped to the top of desks as students move about the room.
You can use this in a digital notebook on Google Classroom or print them out as you see fit.
