In the style of Tom Stoppard's "Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead", this assignment asks students to take a closer look at the supporting characters in Shakespeare's "Hamlet".
After engaging in a close reading to dive deeply into the mind & motivaion of a character other than Hamlet, students may present their findings in one of three ways. They can construct a traditional, formal essay; a dialogue or mini play; or a piece of creative writing. Full instructions are included to hand out to students. An excellent alternative to a traditional essay or exam at the end of reading the play.
