This is an active learning activity, which challenges students. It could be used as an in-class activity or as a homework assignment. I find that students enjoy the crossword format, and they view it as more fun than other assignment tasks/activities.
As a summary quiz, this is designed to be used after studying the play. It is a great revision exercise. It jogs students' memories of characters and places mentioned in the play. I've written the clues with as much detail as possible, so that students will remember key facts.
