Product Description
This document is part of my commentary on Hamlet (243 pages, 100, 700 words). In this document,I analyze the interpretations of five critics - T. S. Eliot, Ernest Jones, Coleridge, Goethe, and Goddard, John Jones, Shapiro, and Marvin Hunt - and point out (from my point of view) the flaws or failings of their critiques, referring to specific scenes or ideas to justify my rejection of these very distinct and disparate points of view. The purpose of this document is to stimulate debate and discussion of the play in general and of the character of Hamlet in particular. Also included in the document is a one-page overview of the central issues in the play that I usually provide as a handout to the class.Michael Cummings
