This Hamlet study guide has proven to be a very useful road map through each act of Shakespeare's Hamlet. It not only features analysis of the text but also integrates a host of extra-textual information. Appropriate for grades 9 - 12.
Ok. This is a really fun way to keep the students engaged in reading Shakespeare's Hamlet. I have constructed 3 different BINGO boards with various motifs, literary devices, plot elements, lines, pieces of plot, etc from Hamlet. As you read the play have the students take out their Bingo Board. When they come across something in the text that appears on the board they write the act, scene, and line down in the respective square. This activity demands analysis as most of the squares are not obvious answers. The first one to get five in a row wins. This activity tests for ANALYSIS, COMPREHENSION, and CLOSE READING.
It is a lot of fun!
