Hamlet is a tough but rewarding play to teach. There’s so much going on, it can be hard to keep track of what to focus on when. That’s where these questions can help.
I’ve crafted one guiding question for each scene designed to orient you and your students towards what’s most important. Each will provoke critical thinking depending on how you use them. Options include:
1. To frame a scene you're about to read.
2: As a written comprehension check.
3: To guide general class discussion or Socratic Seminar.
4. As essay or exam questions.
