This weekly lesson plan goes along with the common core curriculum map for 2nd grade: Hand-Me-Down-Tales From Around The World. It is the SIXTH week in my Hand-Me-Down-Tales Unit.
In this weekly lesson plan, students will be listening to 3 single concept books written by Ann Morris. Students will participate in activities related to each book during the three day period. On the fourth and fifth day, students will create their own single concept book with an introduction, supporting details, and a conclusion. They will also include photographs.
** Please note that this lesson plan includes a Chapati bread making recipe for the students to make. The teacher (and possibly a volunteer) will need to cook the dough on a skillet or griddle when the recipe is complete.
By the end of the week, they are able to:
create a concept map using information from a book.
follow a recipe to create a concept (bread).
compare and contrast a Russian house to my house.
explain needs and wants within a house.
create a single concept book with an introduction, supporting details, and conclusion.
