This weekly lesson plan goes along with the common core curriculum map for 2nd grade: Hand-Me-Down-Tales From Around The World. This is an introduction to Folktales. It is the FIRST week in my Hand-Me-Down-Tales Unit.
In this weekly lesson plan, students will be listening and reading folktales that originated in Cuba. They will identify folktale elements in each text using a checklist in their student response booklet. They will compare 2 versions of the Latin American folktale. At the end of the week, students will create a Folktale Mobile.
By the end of the week, they are able to:
identify elements of a folktale in a story.
answer questions about a folktale.
compare two versions of the same folktale.
create a mobile identifying 8 elements of a folktale.
locate Cuba on a map.
