Do your students need to figure out what type of sedimentary rock has both feldspar and quartz? Do you want them to be more specific than just determining it is a sedimentary rock? Do you want them to know that a sedimentary rock that is deposited in the ocean that has both quartz and feldspar is an arkosic sandstone?
If so....this is the hand-out for you!
This is a hand-out that classifies rocks into specific types of sedimentary, metamorphic and igneous rock. This hand-out would be great for a beginning geology student in either high school or in college!
I put this hand-out together and use it when teaching about the different depositional environments of rocks and also when looking at the different types of metamorphism--regional or contact.
Students use this hand-out on tests and quizzes to help them and they also use it for my rock cycle performance exam, which is also posted on teacherspayteachers.com.
My students have found this hand-out to be very handy in my advanced geology class!
