If your students are anything like mine, they probably like to come up to you and ask you a question or tell you something, instead of raising their hand (even though this is a procedure you have taught from Day 1)! In my classroom, I tried many different things to get my students to stop leaving their seat and start raising their hands. I became tired of telling students over and over again to please sit down and raise their hand, so I made these cards to hand to students instead. When a student came up to me, I handed him, or her, a card without saying a word. The first couple of times this happened, students were confused, but after a few times, they realized what was going on. At the end of the day, if students had three or more of these cards, they would have to clip down on our behavior chart, which is tied to our class reward system. This quickly nipped the behavior of getting out of seats in the bud! I hope these cards can help you as well!
