Minimize interruptions in your teaching throughout the day by using this hand signals anchor chart. There are 10 hand signal cards included in this pack: Drink of water, question or comment, agree, disagree, clean up, connection, bathroom, tissue, speak up, and no blurts. Each card comes in both color and black and white.
Introduce these cards one by one as you teach class procedures in the beginning of the year. For example, when you teach about the bathroom, teach the “L” hand signal and practice using it before adding the card to the chart. The chart stays up ALL YEAR for me to reference and for students to use.
The last card I teach is the No Blurts card. I typically read the book “Interrupting Chicken” or “My Mouth is a Volcano” to them, then introduce the last card. This helps them better understand the purpose and importance of using the hand signals in the classroom.
