Description
This attractive presentation breaks basic hand tools into categories with descriptions, images, and uses for each tool.
The tools included are
HAMMERS: Claw hammer, ball peen hammer, dead blow hammer, mallet/non-maming hammer, tack hammer.
DRILLS ETC: Screws v Nails, Brace and bit, Drill bit, Phillip's head, Flat head, Allen wrench.
PLIERS: Diagonal cutting, Needlenose, Tongue and groove.
KNIVES AND CHISELS: Utility knife, X-Acto Knife, Wood chisel, Plane, File.
SAWS: Rip v Crosscut, Coping saw, Hacksaw.
CLAMPS: Bar clamp, C-Clamp, Trigger clamp/Quick Clamp, Vise.
MEASURING: Square, T-square, Measuring tape, Chalk line, Level.
SAFETY: Saw horse, Dust mask, Work gloves, Safety glasses.
Some mathematical tools have been purposefully left off to avoid redundancy with high school and middle school math classes (protractor, compass, etc).
This resource is designed to be used as a first nine weeks presentation for a technical theater class, but could easily be used in an engineering or shop class. The tools in this presentation were chosen based on what students would likely use in a high school class and do not include power tools (that's another lesson) or electrical, plumbing, etc.
