What is Included?
Literature Selection(s)
Each unit uses well-known literature selections, which are used as the base to further key learning outcomes. These selections can also be used for your reading workshop instruction.
Literature Selection: Hands Are Not For Hitting by Martine Agassi
Follow-up Emergent Reader
➢ Each unit includes a follow-up emergent reader related to the literature selection chosen. These are offered in color, black and white and a booklet version. Many of the readers have been professionally illustrated and are specifically designed for beginning readers to successfully use.
➢ Each reader focuses on key learning outcomes such as sight word and alphabet recognition. The entire program introduces all the Dolch pre-primer sight words.
➢ Each reader has an interactive component as an option where the student is required to cut pictures to match the text, color according to the text or draw. This adds another layer to reading comprehension.
Phonemic and Phonological Awareness Activities
➢ Each unit includes phonemic and phonological awareness instruction with follow-up practice activities
Alphabet Activities
Each unit contains games related to the focus letter(s) contained within. These are related to the literature selection and follow-up emergent reader used.

Focus sight words: can, we, help, I
Focus word family: ad
Alphabet Games Included
Spin and Print
Playing partners take turns using a spinner or top placed on the template provided within the unit. They must print the letter of the initial sound displayed in the picture. These are related to the focus letter/sounds.
Draw and Print
Playing partners take turns drawing focus letter/sound picture cards and print the initial sound represented.
Picture Mnemonic Printing Activity
Students will be involved in completing interactive picture mnemonic activities related to the focus letters/sounds. This is a really fun way for students to retain what they have learned about alphabet letters/sounds.
Sight Word Games
Spin and Print
Playing partners take turns using a spinner or top placed on the template provided within the unit. They must say the name of the focus sight word.
Draw and Say
Playing partners take turns drawing focus sight word cards. If they can say the word, they can keep the card. If they are unable to say the word it is returned back into the pile.
Roll, Say and Print Game 1
Playing partners take turns rolling a die with the focus sight words printed on it. Students say and print the sight words on the templates provided.
Roll, Say and Print Game 2
Playing partners take turns rolling a die and moving their game players around the sight words game board found within the unit. They must say the sight word where their game players landed.
Simple Craft and Writing Activity
Each unit contains a simple follow-up craft and writing activity related to the literature selection and key learning outcomes.
