Who knew learning your letters could be such fun? These activities are perfect for alphabet centers or stations. You'll be so happy you made these part of your literacy rotations.
Recognizing letters and learning their formation is one of the first exposures to literacy that a child has. Without a strong understanding of the Alphabet, a student’s ability to read could be greatly impacted. That knowledge of the Alphabet is commonly considered one of the best predictors of later achievement in reading. So giving our students various materials and ways to manipulate letters is imperative.
But teaching letter recognition and formation doesn't have to be boring. By offering various tools and objects to create meaningful instruction, students will remain focused and engaged in learning. Tools like dough, cars, daubers, stickers, pattern blocks, Legos, snap cubes, and geoboard make learning fun! These various mats are what you’ll find in my independent work stations and centers. My students really enjoy working with them. They love having the choice to use materials they prefer during rotations that they enjoy, and I like that they are working independently, building fine motor skills, and letter recognition.
This bundle is now complete.
If you enjoy these hands-on stations, you should also consider my
Dot It-Paint It-Stick It activities. Using these activities, students can practice letters and sight words while they utilize q-tips, watercolors and stickers.
