This has always been a difficult concept for students! This activity starts with a quick review of basic geometric formulas and gives students a place to write the formula for geometric probability. THEN, the lesson has cut-outs (copy them to cardstock for small groups) that match the problems. Students can find the area of each cut-out shape then layer the shapes to MODEL each problem! Wowzer. I admit, some of the fractions are tough to reduce, but the students will be able to understand the "why" in geometric probability! Give it a try...I'd love to get some feedback on this one!
