Hands-On Multiplication Charts: Montessori-inspired

These hands-on pieces and charts are intended to be used after the child has been introduced to multiplication tables and is on the way to memorization. These can be used for practice as well as assessment. Additionally, a child can use these charts independently or with a partner.

What’s Included
There are several blank charts, each with a different focus:
•Multiplication Chart A -- multiplication tables 1-5, with multipliers 1-5.
•Multiplication Chart B -- multiplication tables 1-5, with multipliers of 6-10.
•Multiplication Chart C -- Multiplication tables 6-10, with multipliers 1-5.
•Multiplication Chart D -- Multiplication tables 6-10, with multipliers 6-10.

There are hands-on pieces for each chart – the products of the factors, with three border styles, depending on how you’d like your students to use them:
•Black borders
•Colored borders for multiples of the same number (colors correspond to the colors of the Montessori bead bars)
•No borders

Answer keys are also included for each chart.

Ways to Use These Materials
These charts and pieces can be used in various ways:
1. Hands-on activity or center: The charts can be printed on cardstock and laminated for game boards. The individual pieces are intended to be printed, laminated, and cut into pieces and used with the game boards. This is great practice for memorizing multiplication tables or for use as an assessment.

Using the colored-border pieces, the child is exposed to multiples of numbers (which are color-coded accordingly), which may also help them to memorize their facts.

2. Worksheet: The blank charts can be printed on regular paper and used as a blank multiplication chart. The child then hand writes the products on the chart.

3. Reusable worksheet: The blank charts can be printed on paper/cardstock and laminated. Using a dry erase marker, the child then hand writes the products on the chart.
