Sometimes it's the simple things that make your students the most happy! I found this to be the case with this activity. In this hands-on interview project, your students will have the chance to play both roles - interviewer and interviewee. During the process, you will have the chance to promote a strong classroom culture, build social and emotional learning, and provide a foundation for a follow-up writing assignment. In addition, you will continue to learn more about your own students' interests. Students first brainstorm and write about their own favorites using the attached graphic organizer. Then, they interview their classmates to find out what they have in common, or what they never knew about some of their classmates. A third component of this resource is a Writing Template - titled MY FAVORITES that can displayed on a bulletin board, or as a graded writing assignment. This is a great activity for both teachers and guidance counselors looking for ways to practice respect, promote social and emotional learning, and most importantly - it provides a terrific opportunity for celebrating diversity in the classroom!
