My students had a blast completing these three hands-on measurement activities! This product includes three worksheets covering the measurement topics of length, weight, and volume.
After giving everyone a pre-cut piece of yarn, my students completed this table by comparing their piece of yarn to objects around the classroom. Then, they marked if the object was longer or shorter than the piece of yarn by placing a check in the correct box.
Using balance scales, students weighed an 8 pack of crayons using several different units of measure. Students were able to compare and discuss why it took more of a certain unit or less of another to make the scale balance.
Students used scoops of rice to measure the capacity of different small containers found around the home or classroom. Students then recorded the amount of scoops, discussed, and compared the capacities of the different containers.
These activities also pair well with Engage New York's Kindergarten Math Module 3 - Lessons 2, 12, and 15
