About to teach the Unit on the Simple Machines: wedge, screw, pulley, wheel and axle, inclined plane, and lever? Then consider one of my kiddos favorites series of activities presented in this growing bundle. Emotions ran free! Who said that learning should be boring? Certain Scientific concepts might be challenging for some of them, but it should not cause negative emotions to learn them.
Invite students to discover engineering design secrets through an engaging set of resources and tools to supplement the Science curriculum. Understanding that simple machines make work easier, distinguishing the differences between the six simple machines, as well the classes of a lever or its parts could not be more fun! Students will master the terms such as simple and complex machines, wedge, screw, pulley, wheel and axle, inclined plane, lever, catapult, and so much more, through engaging videos, interactive content foldables, worksheets, and hands-on activities. Through a five-day series with various engaging activities, students are introduced to six simple machines—inclined plane, wedge, screw, lever, pulley, wheel-and-axle—as well as compound machines, which are combinations of two or more simple machines. Could it be more fun? Probably not (OK, maybe).
Students will find out how to build a mini-catapult using rubber bands and craft-sticks, distinguish the differences between the simple and complex machines, apply the physics knowledge to launch their objects as far as it is possible to compete in the mini class competition and much more!

The Simple Machines: Lever Mini Unit includes well-designed activities aiming to increase the quality of learning while decreasing the time for preparation.
