This complete set of handwriting worksheets not only provides practice with proper letter formation, but also requires students to think of words that begin with the sound, illustrate the word, and stretch the word to hear and represent all the sounds in the word. The activity is designed to improve handwriting and to promote encoding development. It is more than a handwriting worksheet! At the top of the page, students draw pictures of things that begin with the letter sound and label their pictures. You can have students sound out the words and represent the sounds they hear on their own, or brainstorm words and model the encoding process to make a list they can use. I have also had students who are ready use classroom dictionaries to find words. The arrows on the font remind students how to correctly write the letters. There is plenty of room for students to practice writing the letters on their own. This is a great independent activity to help kiddos improve their handwriting and encoding skills.
