This bright, colorful name tag is packed with reference items to help your kindergarten or first grade students work successfully and independently! For kindergarten kiddos, print the page with only ELA desk plates. For first graders, the two-sided first grade tag has the English Language Arts side, with a flip-side dedicated entirely to Mathematics.
After creating a double-sided name tag at the request of a second grade teacher, I decided to give standing tags a try in my first grade classroom as well. I was astounded to see how much more the students used the resources on their desk tags when they were able to pull them out of the holders rather than when the tags were taped to the desk!
That led to the creation of this double-sided first grade name tag with larger resources that are friendlier to young eyes.
Language Arts side features:
• Name Line for student name
• Alphabet with vowels starred (choose from D’Nealian-style modern manuscript or ZB-style manuscript)
• Handwriting Helper (dots and arrows show the starting point for correct letter formation—especially helpful for those kiddos who struggle with b/d confusion)
• Colors and Color Words
• Left and Right Hands
Math side features:
• Number Chart (to 120)
• Plane and Solid Shapes
• Number Line (0 to 30)
Designed to print on 11 X 17 paper, these tags are an economical option to purchasing desk tags each year. Purchase once and print year after year, or hard-laminate the tags (that’s what I did!) and use one classroom set for multiple school years! Designed for easy assembly: just print, fold in half and laminate! Kindergarten tags will print two per page: print, cut in half and laminate.
BONUS: Instructions are included for a quick, easy DIY desk tag holder that will enable your students to pull out the tag when needed, and easily replace it back on the stand.
If you don’t want to make holders, there are commercial options available such as the “Desktop Prop and Park” from Really Good Stuff.
Please note: If you have already purchased my single-sided Handy Reference Desk Tags for first grade, please download the updated file which now includes these double-sided tags as well!
