In this lab students will create a hanging "2.5D" periodic table with the s-block immediately following the p-block and the f-block following the s-block as it would if we didn't have to fit it only a rectangular piece of paper. These periodic tables will highlight a common periodic trend (electronegativity, atomic radius, ionic radius, ionization energy, etc). The second page is simply a blank, full-page periodic table (shrunk thumbnail). In the attached image, you will notice one student misplaced her s-block and choose to use colors and a key for values and other students placed their values on each element block.
Materials needed: string, colored pencils or pens, large paperclips (to make hangers).
Please do not upload these to the internet, as students will find them and harm their learning and that of my students. If you would like me to write a customized lab for you, please email me. Thanks for looking.
