This packet is designed to help your students with apraxia or other speech sound disorders practice producing early developing sounds in basic syllable structures. The target words contain the consonant sounds /b, p, m, t, d, n, h, w, k, g, f, s/ in CV, VC, CVC, CVCV, and CVCVC words. There are a total of 288 different words targeted in this activity (60 CV, 12 VC, 156 CVC, 45 CVCV, 15 CVCVC).
The first section of this packet contains laundry picture cards. Cut apart the cards and laminate for durability. Make a clothesline by hanging a piece of yarn or string between two pieces of furniture. Let your students use clothespins to hang the laundry cards on the string after practicing each word.
The second section of the packet contains clothing mats. Have your students practice the words and then cover the pictures with tokens or play-dough. You could also put the pages in dry erase sleeves and let your students write on the mats with dry erase markers. After all the words are completed, your students can pretend to clean the clothes by removing the play-dough or wiping away the marker.
