This file is three hangman alternative games for word work. You will receive spaceman, snowman, and gingerbread man.
To Play: Students will play in pairs. One student will choose a word from word wall, word list or spelling list but not tell the second student the word. The first student will write a blank space for each letter in the word. For example, the word "play" would be _ _ _ _ written in the space at the bottom of the paper. The second student begins by guessing letters that he/she thinks might be in the word. The first student either writes the letter in the corresponding blank or colors in or traces a piece of the figure. For example if a student guesses the letter "t" and there is no "t", the first student may choose to color in an eye (or mouth, hand, boot, etc.) If word is guessed before figure is completely colored in or traced, the second student wins. If the figure is completely colored in before the word is guessed, the first student wins.
