Hanni and Beth: Safe & Sound is a non-fiction picture book about Beth Finke, who is blind, and her Seeing Eye dog, Hanni. Francine Rich has created a close reading lesson to go along with the picture book. Students will examine the text AND the illustrations, make inferences, and draw conclusions. There is also a fill-in-the-blank activity sheet (with answer key). The activity sheet reinforces vocabulary from the text. It will also help students remember key points about blindness, guide dogs, and the Seeing Eye.
This close reading lesson should be completed after the book is read. Students will need access to a copy of the book to complete the activities in this product.
