Finally! A Star Wars play for kids! This play combines the stories of Star Wars and Hansel and Gretel. In this silly, witty adaptation, Hanseluke and Greteleia discover their true origins, while uncovering and stopping the plans of evil Darth Witch Vader and his henchmen! As Hansel and Gretel is perhaps a slightly darker fairy tale, this play would be great for a slightly older group!
This play is a great drama tool as it parallels the Ontario Drama curriculum so nicely. This script allows students to engage in dramatic play (B1.1), develop the element of character (B1.2), determine/develop props (B1.4), as well as reflect, respond and analyze their dramatic experiences (B2.1, B2.2, B2.3). This play could be a unit in and of itself! It's also a great spring concert idea! May the 4th be with you!!!
(I should mention that I wrote this play for a class of 22, one of whom is non-verbal, so there is a non-verbal role. If your class is a little smaller than mine, you can easily combine a couple of the smaller roles, and should your class be a little larger, you can easily add a couple more Padawanderer or Stream Trooper one-liners.)
