This is an adorable craftivity you can use to introduce the holiday, Hanukkah! I love to emphasize diversity and honor all of the different cultures and traditions celebrated in my class and I have done this craft for more than 10 years! Parents always love how beautiful this art project looks and all that we use are construction paper and glue!
Your students will be able to create a bright, colorful menorah while also learning how to follow directions and review their colors. I created this art craftivity to go along with the book, Sammy Spider's First Hanukkah, but it can go along with any Hanukkah read aloud.
Included in this resource are the following:
1) templates for all the pieces of this craft as well as dimensions for the other paper pieces you will need. I have included both the original 12 X 18 version I always do as well as a 9 X 12 version.
2) "We Can Play" black and white Emergent Reader - It ties into Sammy Spider's First Hanukkah and has the pattern "We can play with one dreidel, we can play with two dreidels, etc." The children must trace the sight words (we can play with...)
3) 1 Color by number and 1 color by sight words sheet
4) Response to literature sheet to go along with any Hanukkah read aloud you use (Write about your favorite part in the story and tell why you liked it.
Your class will definitely enjoy this craft and it will look adorable on your bulletin board!!!
