Hanukkah for Kids
The Feast of Dedication: The Story of the Maccabees is a Word and Spirit—based, easy to prepare, Spirit-led Children's Curriculum.
The Feast of Dedication is a minor feast the Jews still celebrate today. The feast was established to have a yearly eight—day celebration on 25th of the month of Kislev (usually in the month of December).
This five—lesson series, first- through fifth-graders will be inspired by the courage of a small group of people that did great things for God! They’ll learn biblical history about the feast that was established to celebrate the rededication of the temple after two years of Greek desecration. They will also learn about courage and trust from heroes that lead through retelling God’s power. This curriculum will inspire a new generation to stand for righteousness—like the Maccabees by relying on a mighty God who works through small numbers that believe. They will also find how Jesus celebrated the Feast of Dedication and His teachings that correspond to the themes of Hanukkah.
Plus, The Feast of Dedication: The Story of the Maccabees teaches kids about God through relationship. We are committed to making all of our curriculums Word and Spirit focused. Kids dig into the Word by listening and reading the Bible—they act it out, draw it, and play games focused on the lesson. But every lesson has a special time to engage relationship with the Lord—to dialogue with Him, listen, and be changed by His presence. They’ll learn how to build their relationship with God and with each other, grow in Christ together, and pray and encourage their friends.
