Rhythms are in standard & stick notation.
This Powerpoint game helps students develop their aural skills by having them decide if the audio clip in each slide matches the notation shown on the slide. This is played in teams and the teams with the most correct answers wins. You could even have students work on their dictation skills to earn points by writing the correct rhythm if the notation on the slide does not match.
The main skill that this tests is the ability to distinguish a quarter note from an eighth note rhythm. My classes really enjoy this game and it usually takes us 20-30 minutes to play. I use equity sticks in order to choose students to pick a graphic.
There are 10 rhythms that include:
Beamed eighth notes
Audio clips are mp3s and embedded in the powerpoint.
This game is also available for half notes:
Happy Bug, Sad Bug, Half Notes
