Are you looking for a new, student centered activity to introduce your Halloween or Autumn Harvest unit? Having students create a mosaic poster together is not only fun, but a great way to emphasize team building and individuality in this hands on art project. Each student receives a tile to color (25 total). After coloring the tiles students place their own section in the appropriate spot. A grid template is included so teachers know how to place each tile.
The completed mosaic poster measures approximately 3'X3'. This is a great art project for the classroom wall or bulletin board. The best part of this activity is that it doesn't matter how, or how well students color their tile. When all of the tiles are placed together students will see their one of a kind masterpiece come together right before their eyes.
This is especially fun if you do not tell students what they are coloring beforehand so that their interest and curiosity are peaked when all of the tiles are put together.
Activity includes: 25 master tiles that can be copied are reused as many times as you like, a completed, colored example mosaic, a template grid for placing tiles on wall or bulletin board and a simple lesson plan explaining the activity.
