This original poem is the premise for this product, and it is meant to be included in the students’ Mother’s Day projects or craftivities.
Copy pages 4-5 according to the way you intend to use them in your classroom. My students used them to learn the poem, and to practice tracing the words for penmanship review (See pictures on following page). Using regular paper, copy pages 6-7, and using card stock, copy pages 8-9 for each student. Page 8 is the cover of the “pot” booklet (for two students on one page to save paper), and page 9 is the base of the carftivity. Have students color the booklet cover and base, then cut out carefully. Use color tissue paper squares (loosely wrapped around a pencil eraser, and lightly dipped in glue) to create the puffy flower petals.
Students will cut the 4 pots containing the parts of the poem, place them, in order, on the base pot. They will trace the wording and write their name on the booklet cover, place it on top, and staple booklet. I placed the words of the poem a little to the right so that the staples wouldn’t cover them when the booklet is made. I have included blank pots (page 10) for those who want to write their own sentiments.
This product is also available in Spanish in my TpT store,
¡Feliz Día de la Madre! Poema y Manualidad… However, the poems are not identical, but rather address the same theme.
