For over two decades, I celebrated the whole birthdays and half birthdays of my students. It is only in recent years, however, that I have added quarter birthdays and three-quarter birthdays to our classroom festivities.
Celebrating birthdays every three months is a great way to introduce and reinforce fractions. It will also add to the overall joy of your classroom. It seems that every week we are singing some version of our modified Happy Birthday song.
In this PowerPoint (presented in PDF format), you will find:
A. A Birthday For Four, a short story about four friends celebrating a quarter birthday
B. my original Quarter Birthday Song
C.fun facts about the United States quarter coin, the American quarter horse, New Orleans’s French Quarter, Dames Quarter, Maryland, and a football quarterback
D. ten Quarter Birthday Challenges
Homeschoolers will find this Power Point an excellent way to celebrate quarter birthdays throughout the year.

Happy Quarter Birthday is ideal for students in grades one to four, although countless first grade teachers have enjoyed using the Power Point in their class.
