Harcourt Trophies Book 3 ~Literacy Center Activity ~Color It, Count It, Graph It!
Are you looking for a fun activity that includes both literacy and math? Then why not check this out?
“Color It, Count It, Graph It!” includes 2 pages for each of the following Harcourt Trophies Grade 1 Reading Stories from Book 3:
”I Am a Butterfly”
“Did You See Chip?”
“On the Way to the Pond”
“The Fox and the Stork”
Note-This packet can be used in any primary grade classroom. You do not have to implement the Harcourt Reading Series to use it.
The first page of each lesson invites the children to color the words using a color code. The children are then asked to count the number of times they colored each word and write it in the box provided. The second page asks the children to graph the number of times they found each word and to name the word or words that appeared the most and the least.
This makes a great literacy center! Children are actively engaged in a useful activity, allowing the teacher quality time to work with groups of students during guided reading. It may also be used during partner work, as independent practice, morning work, and more!
Thanks for looking!
