This set of story activities is for the story, Friends Forever, in the first grade Harcourt Trophies series. These activities can be used for independent practice of specific skills, for small group instruction, or for literacy centers. Each activity includes are recording sheet for assessment purposes. This set includes:
Making Words ~ Students use letter cards to build words, focusing on words ending with -le.
Using Words with -er and -est ~ Students read sentence cards and choose the word (-er or -est) that makes sense in the sentence. Students record their word on their answer sheet.

Building New Vocabulary~ Students read sentence cards with vocabulary words from the story. Students choose the correct vocabulary word and write the word on their recording sheet.
Making Connections ~ Two different making connections sheets (text to self and text to world) for students to respond to the story.
Fact or Fiction? ~ Students sort sentence cards into fact or fiction. Students record two fiction and two fact sentences on their answer sheet. ( Color and Black/White sets included)
Friendly Capitalization ~ Students rewrite sentences containing days of the week and use proper capitalization and punctuation in their writing. ( Color and Black/White sets included).
