These eight literacy stations correlate wtih "Gather Around" (part of Harcourt Trophies First Grade reading series). They are designed to improve reading fluency and expression. The game is set-up for two or more players. Students take turns pulling a sentence strip from a container and reading it. They must read the sentence with expression so the other players can guess if it has a period, question mark, or exclamation. This station gets kids really paying attention to punctuation, as both readers and listeners.
There is a reporducible score card included. I used an old container from sanitizing wipes to store sentence strips in. I have included a color PDF of the label so you can make your own.
This set includes materials for the stories "The Story of a Blue Bird", "Frog and Toad All Year", "Fishing Bears", "How to Be a Nature Detective", "The Puddle", "Poppleton Everyday", "Sleep is for Everyone", and "Baboon".
