Whether you are implementing the Harcourt Trophies Reading Series or not, this printable packet may be just what your students need. This no-prep spelling/vocabulary word packet includes "Roll & Trace in Color" printables for the spelling and story words used in Book 3 of the Harcourt Trophies First Grade Reading Series. There are 2 worksheets for each of the 6 stories included in Book 3. The first worksheet for each story uses the Harcourt Trophies Grade 1 spelling words printed with dotted lines to be traced with colored pencils or crayons. The second worksheet for each story uses words taken from that reading story. Students simply read a word on the printable, roll a die to see which color they should use to trace each word (using the color code at the bottom of each page), and trace the word in that color. This activity allows children to have fun while reading and writing their spelling and story words.
This works as a great literacy and word work tool whether you use the Harcourt Reading Series or another reading series. The words included may be used in any primary classroom and would therefore be beneficial to others not using Harcourt.
Great for small groups and independent practice!
The Harcourt Trophies stories included are:
“I Am a Butterfly”
“Did You See Chip?”
“On the Way to the Pond”
“The Fox and the Stork”
