This set of activities is for the Harcourt Trophies story, The Fox and the Stork. These activities can be used as independent skill practice, small group instruction, or for literacy centers. Each activity comes with a recording sheet for assessment purposes. This unit includes:
Sortin Words with -ow and -oa ~ Students sort word cards under the correct spelling pattern for long o. Students record the complete word on their recording sheet.
The Fox's Tricky Vocabulary ~ Students read sentence cards and choose the correct vocabulary word for each sentence. Students record their word on their answer sheet.
Making Words~ Students use letter cards to build words with -ow and -oa and write their words on the recording sheet.
Making Predictions~ This activity can be used with any book or story. Students use this page to make predictions about what might happen in the book and confirm predictions using details from the book.
Stork's Story Sequencing~ Students put story sentence cards in order based upon story events. Then students complete a cut and paste sequencing activity sequencing details from story.
Fox's Slippery Sentences~ Students put words cards in order to create a sentence. Students rewrite the sentence on their recording sheet using correct capitalization and punctuation (focusing on months of the year.)
