This is a collection of two sorting activities for reading/identifying words with hard and soft g. It was created with upper elementary students in mind. As a fourth grade teacher, I often have difficulty finding phonics activities that are appropriate for older students. Either they are too basic, or words are too easy, yet some students still need to work on some phonics skills, and I was always trying to hunt down materials to use in my phonics groups for interventions.
While these were created for upper elementary students, it could easily be adapted for lower elementary students by taking out word cards that are too hard for your students. For the cut and paste sorting activity, I have also included a blank sheet of flower shapes so you can write your own words in as well to meet your students' needs.
