Product Description
Students learn and appreciate the contributions of the authors of the Harlem Renaissance.
These are the men and women who created a voice for the leaders of the Civil Rights Movement.


This essay assignment requires students to choose a prominent writer (poet, fiction, non-fiction) from a list of eight Harlem Renaissance writers:

---Hurston,

---Fauster,

---Cullen,

---Locke,

---Dubois,

---Garvey, or

---Johnson.

I provide a brief description of each and a photo.

Students must provide a piece of writing or excerpt by the author.

Students must then choose a common theme from a list of six or devise their own and proceed to formulate a thesis statement and main points based on the theme.

They are directed to cover at least three main points in their discussion and provide at least six illustrative quotes.

I provide a simple checklist for editing content.

I use clear font.

Attractive format.

Eight graphics.
