With this mp4 file, One Arts Infusion Collaborative has created a way for classroom teachers, utilizing their computers or Smartboards, to sing with their students this. I wrote this song, The Underground Railroad, as a part of an original children's operetta entitled Araminta, the life of Harriet Tubman. The melody is in a minor key, but not sad. The lyrics draw the singers into the bold, compelling question asked by each conductor, are you ready to travel down this road, from this road there is no turning back? You must now decide to lay your fears aside and take a ride on the Underground Railroad. This song is suitable for any students studying the Underground Railroad. This mp4 file is the counterpart to the Underground Railroad Sheet Music and is an excellent way to bring music into the classroom, engage a few different learning modalities, and fill a five minute window with meaningful learning yet active fun. May I say that of all of the hundreds of songs I have written for students over 30 years, this one is among my favorites; it's melody captures the message. I do hope you all listen to this one.
