This presents a reading quiz and a discussion activity for Vonnegut's story "Harrison Bergeron." The discussion activity begins with students completing a Likert Scale. These questions tie into students' own beliefs about what is to be valued (trying vs. achievement, conformity vs. individuality, etc.). The results of the survey make for an extraordinarily lively class discussion of the themes and satire in Vonnegut's story. This activity can easily last two days. Students love this chance to "argue" about these important ideas.
