Enjoying Harry Potter with your students but tired of having the same three students run the discussion every day? Change up your dynamics without lecturing your class with this fun surprise activity.
Included in this packet, you will find three sheets of Harry Potter discussion role cards to print and cut out, and a post-discussion reflection handout. I like to cut apart the cards and tape them under my students’ chairs before class, then swear them to secrecy about their roles before letting them look to see what they have been assigned.
This activity will change the dynamics in your classroom for the day, and if you use the reflection sheet and talk a little with the students about how the experience went, you may find it can help improve the dynamics on a longer-term basis as well.
