These are activities for two small selections of La Orden del Fénix por JK Rowling designed to guide upper-level Spanish students read using context clues and figure out unknown words in a text. Due to the style of writing these activities can be appropriate for good and struggling readers in advanced Spanish classes since several of the words are made-up by the author and thus even fluent readers will have to figure them out from context. The first page is an introduction for the students that gives reading comprehension strategies and explains the basic situations of each reading selection. For the first selection there are 2 questions requiring quotes from the text that demonstrate certain concepts, six key vocabulary words to translate or define and a question about the state of the protagonist at the end of the selection. They are all free response questions. The second selection has 15 multiple choice questions that test the student's understanding of vocabulary in context. The book selections are provided with the activities under the fair use clause of copyright law since they are well under the 10% / one chapter maximum and this activity is for educational use only. The product charge is only for the activities. These activities have worked well in my AP Spanish Language classes for several years.
