This is the novel study I started when I taught 3rd grade and modified when I started teaching 4th grade. It has grown and morphed into this after 10 years. You will find a lot included (all has been used multiple times in my own classroom).
Included in this novel study, you will find...
~chapter by chapter plans detailing what to cover during your mini lessons, writing time, vocabulary for each chapter, word work for each chapter, and any other suggested activities
~thinking prompts for the students to respond to each chapter (while learning how to respond to literature and the mechanics that go along with writing)
~grammar quizzes covering the skills you can/will pull from the book and a few grammar activities to do with your class
~comprehension quizzes/tests over the chapters (There are three in all- chapter 1-5, chapters 6-10, and chapters 11-17)
~vocabulary quizzes (which include word work and figurative language, as well) for each chapter
~a journal cover for reflection
~a character analysis sheet
~a setting analysis sheet
~a chart to put vocabulary words from each chapter on (You could use the words I have on the vocabulary quizzes.)
~a figurative language project and a quiz to assess mastery of these skills at the end of the unit
~a super character project
~This unit cover a multitude of ELA Common Core standards as well as setting up foundational skills and critical thinking skills.
*I had another classroom complete this novel study with me this year, and her class loved it too! I hope yours loves this unit and this book as much as my classroom does! Please let me know if I can help in any way at email@example.com
